The Count goes down for the count

Not much to say about the battle of Ultimate Fighter coaches Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping at UFC 100. The two talked a lot of smack beforehand, especially Bisping, who was knocked out in highlight reel fashion a couple minutes into the second round.

Henderson had been setting up for the huge right hand all night and Bisping walked into one and was out cold before he hit the canvas (although that didn’t stop Hendo from landing a flying tomahawk chop across his jaw and throat). Asked about the final blow, Henderson said, “Normally, I’m not that way in fights. I know if a guy is out. I tend to stop. I knew I hit him out. I think that one was just to shut him up a little bit.” Henderson later apologized for the remark, saying that he was only joking.

During the post-fight press conference, he said, “”When you’re in the heat of the moment, the ref hadn’t stopped me yet, who knows what’s going to happen, whether he’ll recover of if they’re gonna stop the fight? I really only hit him twice, once on my feet and once on the ground, I didn’t keep going after the ref tried to stop me. It was just a reaction of mine to keep going until I was stopped. It did feel good though.”

The win proves the 38-year-old PRIDE superstar (25-7) is no joke. He’s strung together a three-fight win streak since losing to middleweight champ Anderson Silva at UFC 82 and is eyeing a rematch, which he certainly deserves.
