Werdum vs. villainy

kyle-werdum

Fabricio Werdum’s on again/off again status for Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg on August 15 is most definitely on.

Werdum had been scheduled for a title bout with heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem, who had to withdraw because of a nagging hand injury dating back to a bar brawl months ago. And yesterday reports circulated that the Brazilian was being pulled from the card because Strikeforce couldn’t find a replacement for Overeem (there was even a rumour, easily dismissed, that Werdum would face the newly signed Fedor Emelianenko, and that may happen, just not on two weeks’ notice).

Now, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is definitely back in the mix and he’ll face Amercican Kickboxing Academy’s Mike Kyle, according to Five Ounces Of Pain.

Werdum is a four-time UFC veteran with wins over Brandon Vera and Gabriel Gonzaga and losses to Andrei Arlovski (back when he was somebody to fear) and most-recently, Junior dos Santos at UFC 90.

As for Kyle, he’s coming off the vicious beating he gave Rafael Cavalcante at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields in June. Kyle’s also a first-class douche. Just check out the video below, right around the 2:50 mark. Despicable.
