Griffin serves “Beer in Hell” with Traci Lords

A random Twitter conversation about Forrest Griffin’s hilarious book, Got Fight?, which I reviewed here on Friday, led to a discussion of unapologetic douchebag blogger Tucker Max, who writes (sometimes amusingly) about all the shitty things he does with and to women. He’s kind of like Patrick Bateman, except instead of chopping women up, he just degrades them.

What does that have to do with Griffin, you ask? Well, Griffin is like a less-douche-y version of the blogger in that his quasi-autobiographical tales of his sexual exploits only serve to degrade himself.

And it turns out the connection between the two is actually a little stronger than that, as another Twitterer piped up today to point out that Griffin and fellow UFC fighter Mac Danzig have roles in the movie I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, based on Tucker Max’s best-selling novel. The biggest name in the film is former porn star Traci Lords (I add that detail for no good reason whatsoever), and according to IMDb, it’s getting an October 16 release.

I haven’t read the book but the plot of the movie is about a guy who tries to patch things up with his soon-to-be-married pal after botching things up at his bachelor party. Sounds like a pseudo-sequel to the over-rated The Hangover, although if they go for more of a Bret Easton Ellis/American Psycho pitch-black comedy vibe, I could see it as making an awesomely dark and twisted double feature with Very Bad Things.
