Strikeforce goes from pothead to alcoholic

A couple of days ago I wrote about how Nick Diaz missed his mandatory drug test on Friday that could put his bout against Jay Hieron on Saturday’s Strikeforce card in jeopardy. Diaz was supposed to show up for the California State Athletic Commission-supervised test on Monday. That didn’t happen either. (And yes, the irony of a pothead missing an appointment to get tested for drugs in not lost on me.)

So instead of Diaz, Hieron will face Jesse Taylor. He’s the douche from the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter who got drunk and kicked out a limousine window, which got him kicked off the show. Well, it seems Taylor has cleaned up his act since then. He was given a second chance by the UFC, lost to CB Dollaway at UFC: Silva vs. Irvin last year and has since gone on a seven-fight winning streak, most recently at DREAM 10 in July. And you have to give Taylor props for taking the Hieron fight on just five days notice.
