The Nightmare continues

Just off the mats at Toronto BJJ. Saulo Ribeiro, six-time World Jiu-Jitsu Champion and two-time Abu Dhabi submission wrestling world champ was in town to teach a few classes and oversee some gradings. Ribeiro also trains UFC fighter Diego Sanchez and he confirmed that Sanchez will fight BJ Penn for the lightweight belt in December.

This is the first real conformation we’ve had. The most that UFC president Dana White has said is that Sanchez is “probably next in line” to take on Penn and that it may happen later this year or in early 2010.

Ribeiro also said that after Sanchez beats Penn he has plans to move up to welterweight to challenge Georges St. Pierre for his belt. That’s a bit like putting the cart before the horse, but I love Sanchez’s nutso take-on-all-comers attitude.
