Babaloopy

Quick hit: Gegard Mousasi introduced himself to the Strikeforce audience by obliterating jiu-jitsu journeyman Renato “Babalu” Sobral with a first-round ground-and-pound to win the light heavyweight belt. The K-1 vet and DREAM champion was so calm, composed, he practically winked at the camera during the referee’s instructions, then came out and took Sobral down and rained down a heavy right hand that left Sobral loopy just 60 seconds into the opening frame. Nobody will be making fun of Mousasi’s first name anymore.

Prior to that fight, Gilbert Melendez out-classed wrestler Mitsuhiro Ishida in an utterly one-sided fight that ended with a third-round TKO.

very impressed with Mousasi’s restraint after he knew babalu was out. I think that sort of behaviour should be promoted within the sport to help it flourish into a healthy form of competition.
