Fastest knockout ever
Todd Duffee’s seven-second demolition of Tim Hague on Saturday’s UFC 102 undercard was the fastest knockout in UFC history and has people buzzng that Duffee, a giant out of American Top Team at 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds, could challenge for the heavyweight crown.
Duffee is 5-0 (1-0 in the UFC), with huge fists and a machine-like work ethic (and an awesomely stupid nickname: the Irish Car Bomb). Kind of a mirror image of champ Brock Lesnar, who is 4-1, with huge fists and a machine-like work ethic (and an awesomely stupid sword tattoo).
But let’s not push the kid too quickly. He’s only 23 and has only spent a little over ten minutes fighting. That’s right, he’s won all his fights by KO or TKO in rather convincing and rapid fashion. Give him an opponent whose more of a challenge than Hague and let’s see how he does. Because all I’ve seen him do is hit Hague with a short, sharp jab and follow it up with a couple seconds of ground-and-pound. Not exactly a complete demonstration of his skills.
And while Duffee’s is the fastest UFC knockout, but not the shortest in all of MMA, as the video from a couple of years ago shows. And neither of those guys are doing anything worth mentioning these days.
