Nover suffers seizure, Fight Night bout scrapped

Tonight’s Ultimate Fight Night 19 preliminary card bout between Sam Stout and Phillipe Nover has been scrapped after Nover suffered a seizure in the locker room about an hour before the event was scheduled to get under way in Oklahoma City. The news comes via UFC president Dana White who, at 4 pm EST, posted the following on his Twitter account: The Nover fight is off. Nover had a seizure in the locker room. He is ok.
MMA Junkie has since learned that Nover, the lightweight runner-up on the eighth season of The Ultimate Fighter, was taken to hospital for tests. In fact, Nover is the fighter who fainted during the first episode of that season. I don’t want to speculate on the cause of the seizure, whether a pre-existing medical condition, nerves, a bad weight cut or whatever is responsible.
There’s no word on whether the fight will be rescheduled or if the two fighters will end up with different opponents in their next bout.
