Tim Sylvia’s chin not so soft after all

Tim Sylvia proved he can still take a punch – and deliver ‘em – with a first-round TKO victory over Jason Riley at Friday’s Adrenaline MMA IV event.

The former UFC heavyweight champ was coming off three straight losses, including a nine-second knockout at the hands of boxer Ray Mercer at Adrenaline MMA 3. He withstood several exchanges with Riley, who landed several punches to Sylvia’s face, before he dropped Riley with a big right hand and followed him to the floor with punches until the referee waved off the bout at the 2:32 mark.

Meanwhile, UFC vet Houston Alexander righted his sinking ship after three losses with a TKO win over Sherman Pendergast, pummeling Pendergast with flurry of strikes that had the ref stepping in a couple of minutes into round one.
