UFC 103 in a nutshell

If you missed UFC 103 – or want to relive the magic that was this lackluster card – it’s all in this video clip. A couple of things I have noticed rewatching a couple of the fights. It looks like Josh Koscheck clipped Frank Trigg behind the ear, which might have thrown off Trigg’s equlibrium and allowed Koscheck to finish him off. Ditto with Vitor Belfort taking out Rich Franklin. You can clearly see that as Belfort throws a looping left Franklin is ducking down and away and leaving the side of his head open. Nothing illegal about those punches, I just wasn’t sure on initial viewing exactly why the two fighters went down.

Also, if you watch Belfort in this fight he kind of looks a bit like Lyoto Machida in the way he stands and moves. Turns out Belfort trained a bit with Machida and then brought one of Machida’s old sport karate opponents to live and train with him.
