UFC 106 card becomes a little clearer

The UFC continues to lock down the lineup for November 21’s UFC 106, confirming a preliminary card bout between The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Kendall Grove and fellow middleweight Jake Rosholt and main-card bouts between Dustin Hazelett and fellow welterweight contender Karo Parisyan as well as former top 170-pound contender Jon Fitch and Ricardo Almeida.

Grove looks to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Almeida at UFC 101 in August. Three-time NCAA Division I national wrestling champion Rosholt, meanwhile, looks to build off his UFC 102 submission victory over Chris Leben.

Hazelett is coming off a torn ACL and hasn’t fought since November 2008. Until the, he’d won five of his previous six fights. Parisyan is wrapping up a drug suspension (prescription painkillers) issued following his win over Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 94 (The win was overturned to a no-decision.)

Almeida, now 9-1 in his past 10 fights (which included a four-year layoff from 2004 to 2008), makes his welterweight debut following a 3-1 stint in the 185-pound division following the long layoff. Fitch’s only UFC loss came against Georges St-Pierre in a title fight at UFC 87 in 2008 and has recent unanimous-decision wins over Akihiro Gono and Paulo Thiago.
