Smaller octagon? Why not trap doors and real guillotines?

The UFC is thinking about shrinking its cage. “We’ve been talking about making the octagon smaller,” UFC president Dana White told Yahoo Sports. “(UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva wants it. I think he wants to turn the thing into a fucking bathtub. Have them fight in a little tollbooth.”
The octagon measures 30 feet across its interior, while the WEC’s cage, for example, is 25 feet across. Theoretically, the smaller the cage the easier it is for aggressive fighters to find their Kalib Starnes, which should result in faster-paced more-exciting fights. The question is, would it make someone like Lyoto Machida less elusive? Do we want him to be? Should we be trying to make fights easier for less-skilled fighters? Kind of dilutes things a bit, like lowering the hoop in basketball. And I can’t imagine if you were fighting Brock Lesnar and they moved the walls in five feet – the current octagon probably already feels like a broom closet.
The 25-foot cage works for the WEC for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that their fighters are smaller than those in the UFC. Why would the UFC want to tinker with what’s clearly not broken?
