Frank Trigg wants to fight tomato cans

Fighters always say they want to face the best opponents possible. Except Frank Trigg. Trigg is coming off a loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 103 following a four-year absence from the octagon and will likely be cut from the promotion if he drops his next bout, which is rumoured to be against Matt Serra. And he tells FightHype he’d rather his next fight be against a pushover:
“If my next fight is Serra, it’s going to be a loser leave town match cause he is on a two-fight losing streak, so that would be three fights in a row that he lost and for me, it would be a two-fight losing streak if I lost and I’m out. One of us is going to have to go home. If I fight somebody else and I lose, I’m going to have to leave regardless because I would have two losses. I would like for them to give me a tomato can, like some low-level martial artist, so I can beat the crap out of somebody for a change and get a win streak going, but the way they work with me, it’s going to be somebody tough no matter who it is.”
I’m not sure how seriously we can take this quote but it is refreshing to see a fighter admitting to want to take the road less-battered for a change.
