Something to get you fired up about UFC 125

I’ll admit that UFC 125 didn’t hold that much appeal, especially after Shane Carwin vs. Roy Nelson was pulled from the card. It just didn’t seem to have much weight or depth. I’m not sure what I was thinking, because in the clear light of day, this card stacks up just fine as a great way to ring in 2011. Take a look at this main event lineup:

  • Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi
  • Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim
  • Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva
  • Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann
  • Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard (for the lightweight title)

There’s definite New Year’s Day fireworks in there. And if that’s not enough to excite you, check out this video. It starts slow and builds nicely. And it contains the most inventive use of a belch since my buddy Stephen burped Oh, Canada during a high school assembly.
